There's something about this color that keeps me gravitating towards it. I've been obsessing over these warm fall colors lately that I think it's gotten to a point where I want a wardrobe overhaul just because. Warm, earthy and rich, this red-orange color complements my skin tone perfectly (and surprisingly at that.)
Years ago, I would have dismissed it as something very unflattering-- something that looks dull bordering on irredeemable faux pas. But fashion has a funny way of knocking some sense into us. Case in point: Me back in first year college buying all 7 shirts in the exact same shade to wear to my first few weeks of class. Imagine me wearing a different shirt (baby tee, our generation would call it) everyday but in the colors rust, burnt sienna and terra cotta. EVERYDAY for almost a month. Friends were actually teasing me towards the end of the second week asking if this color was my uniform for no-uniform-days. You bet I turned terra cotta from embarrassment!
But this was the time I learned to love this color. From my shirts to my bag, my slip-ons and even my Nokia 3310 case (too happy they're bringing it back!!) It was a love affair only I understood back then. But then came the hot pink obsession, moving on to the pastels and eventually the fiery reds. This color took a backseat in the farthest reaches of my brain only to have it thrusted back into the spotlight when this became the it color of 2015.

A perfect blend of red, orange and brown, this earth tone is slowly taking up space in my closet again. Paired with softer hues like nude, blush and gray, terra cotta achieves a warm feminine look. For something more dramatic, black is your strongest bet.
This Zaful Wide Leg Pants is made of cotton blend material and with its loose fit, it's the perfect blend of style and comfort. Paired it with a SammyDress Off-the-Shoulder shirt to give a smart casual dress code a spin.
Nothing like a statement purse for accent. With enough space to hold your phone, facial tissue, lipstick and compact powder, this Rose Gal cross-body bag is the perfect size for all your formal engagements.
Needless to say, I'm on the prowl for more terra cotta, rust and burnt sienna pieces. So, what's your current color crush?
