I am always on the prowl for home stuff that best suits our home's overall theme and feel. I can spend one whole day driving from one design shop to another and still feel that it wasn't enough-- not enough time to go over each and every rack, not enough time to visit all design stores in Cebu. Time consuming, yes, but it's time well spent.
When we moved into this house 4 years ago, I was crazy for the color Gray. Gray bedroom walls, gray curtains, gray sheets, gray comforter and even gray headboard. A year after that, after growing tired of what seemed like a very lonely color palette, I incorporated a few blues and yellows, hoping to liven up the space. To which they actually did, for a time that is.
Fast forward to 2016 when Rose Quartz took the whole world by storm and everything, from plates, cutlery accents and even men underpants, popped out in this color and lorded over the rest of the color spectrum. When its lighter, more muted sister, Blush, came into the picture, I completely lost it. Its dainty but bold, sweet but confident color is the perfect mix of my childhood Barbie dreams and adolescent Victoria's Secret pink fling days. Still pink but it's more grown up, more subdued, more womanly. So of course, I had to change our bedroom's (if I can't help it, maybe the whole house too) color theme pronto!
I once read that once you find something that best suits your home's design and theme, don't hesitate, buy it. Buy it if you're sure you know where to place it and buy it if you know you're going to actually use it, and not just hoard it.
And like a true blue certified shopaholic, I immediately spotted a sale rack that read "BUY ONE, TAKE ONE" curtains-- curtains in the prettiest pink shade. Curtains that sell for P700 for two. Curtains that have my name written all over them! I guess y'all know what happened next! ;)
They all came in 1 length so I had them hems altered and de-wrinkled them using a garment steamer.
And because I make it a point to keep my curtains in pairs for ease in storing and use, I got new sheer white curtain panels too for P300 per piece. While they look unnecessary, they actually prettify the space more by giving dimension and emphasis on your colored curtains. Window treatments like this white sheer panel add both function and form-- providing privacy while giving you ample natural light. This is something all the bedrooms in this house are never without!
No new bedroom makeover is without a new comforter so I had to get a new one too and in the same blushing pink shade, no less!
This definitely was love at first sight and for a discounted price of P2700 for a 300-count variety, it was quite a steal given the steep prices of beddings these days. But in all honesty, it was just the color that made me decide to get it. Slowly acing the matching game, yes? Haha!
To break the "softness" of the pink color, I added throws in printed mint color for accent. I actually cannot decide where to place these-- in the bedroom or the living room?
P150 each for the throw pillow, P275 for the covers :)
And did you guys know that pillows actually have an expiry date? I know that there's always an expiry date for material things but I didn't really know (nor believed at first) that pillows actually last for up to 3 years only. Beyond that, they get pretty unmanageable and flat. I don't always fluff my pillows every morning (hence the pre-term flatness) but now that I've replaced the old ones, I will be fluffing the heck out of our pillows every morning just to keep them fluffy for far more longer than my previous ones.
Kingston Pillow in Queen size sells for P385 :)
What's a bedroom without some fashionable jewelry hanger?
While I may have bought this Tree Accessories organizer 2 years ago, it's just good to note that The Metro Stores carry both functional and stylish house decors that cater to different kinds of shoppers and personalities.
This kitchen decor I also bought a few months ago but The Metro Stores definitely go all out cray when they're on sale, case in point, P175 for this ceramic BAKE kitchen decor. One hundred seventy five pesos only! Totally regret not getting the last 2 pieces, would have made a very pretty housewarming present for friends or family!
Whether you're looking for elements that are suited for minimalism, resort living, modern or classic themes, you are sure to find key products at The Metro Store that suits everyone's budget. I've already exceeded my budget for this particular mini makeover but can you actually blame me? :D
Be in the know of the newest arrivals and latest promos, be sure to follow The Metro Stores on Instagram and Facebook. Be updated and bookmark their Metro Retail Stores Group official website!
Now if you'll excuse me, I still have some planning to do-- what color palette next? :D
