When your skin begs for a little more hydration, and your moisturizers just don't make the cut, you turn to treatment lotions that do exactly just that-- boost your skin's hydration for a more supple and better-looking skin.
A few months ago, I attended a one-on-one Bobbi Brown lesson by Bobbi-trained Tamara Pineda and she demonstrated how to achieve a fresh no make-up look with just the basics. This of course covered the how-to's in applying your concealer and foundation. The very highlight of this workshop that stuck with me was the pre-makeup preparation which included the Bobbi Brown Extra Treatment Lotion.
I went home with a full-size bottle of this treatment lotion for me to incorporate in my everyday makeup routine and nightly regimen. I've been using this lotion for 3 months now and I'm happy to report that I finally found a product that addresses my skin concern regarding hydration.
Bobbi Brown Extra Treatment Lotion is a preparative lotion that you apply first before your skincare routine to maximize skin's moisture. It is a water-based lotion perfect for anyone who needs an extra moisture boost and who likes their skin soothed, calm and more even looking.
For someone who grew up with a lot of skin issues ( I started using moisturizer when I was in 3rd grade ), it is imperative for me to find a product that targets all my problem areas without prominent downsides i.e. heavy feeling, stickiness, excess oil that leads to clogged pores. With the Bobbi Brown Extra Treatment Lotion, I have noticed significant change in my skin's suppleness in just 3 weeks of use but because I wanted to make sure that it wan't just a temporary result, I used it for the next 3 months hoping to see optimum results.
So this is me after shower- no moisturizer, no concealer, no sunblock, NO KILAY!
Just the treatment lotion.
I use the treatment lotion in the morning after applying my toner and before makeup, and at night after my toner and before my serum and moisturizer. While it does not promise acne-free and clearer skin ( you will need a different product to address these concerns ), it however promotes hydration making your skin more supple, more plump and better looking with that youthful glow. And because it is water-based, it is easily absorbed by the skin without giving you a heavy sticky feeling.
Typically, this is how I use my BB Extra Treatment Lotion in the morning and at night:
MORNING: Cleansing • Toner • BB Extra Treatment Lotion • Moisturizer • Makeup
AT NIGHT: Cleanse/Exfoliate • Toner • BB Extra Treatment Lotion • Serum • Moisturizer
I normally use 2 drops of the lotion but on days when I feel like my skin needs more boost and at night when the AC gives your face that drying feeling, I use 3 drops and massage it slowly and evenly on my face using my fingers.
While it looks complicated and takes a whole lot of time, trust me, your skin will actually thank you for it.
Bobbi Brown Extra Treatment Lotion has Glycerin and Hyaluronate that binds moisture to skin for a plumped, more radiant appearance. Finally, Trelahose, a sugar-derived ingredient, promotes long term hydration without the sticky feeling.
This treatment lotion is one of my highly recommended buys if you're looking for a product to help you boost skin hydration. Expect better skin texture, lesser fine lines and a more youthful glow with continued use.
What products are you using to address hydration issues? Would love to hear your thoughts!
