Benefit Cosmetics recently launched a new lipstick line that had me ditching my lip liners and lip balms altogether because dimension and volume for daysss. Okay, the ditching part might be an exaggeration BUT on days when I choose to wear one of my They're Real Double The Lip lipsticks (and it happens pretty often), I leave the liner and lip balm at home because they already work as a liner and moisturizing lipstick in one.
I've always been a fan of Benefit Cosmetics' no-fuss make-up products and pretty packaging; from their POREfessional Pore Minimizing Makeup (with the cutest, most travel-friendly sponge), to their rose-tinted lip & cheek tint the Benetint (a holy grail!), their sweat-proof ka-BROW! eyebrow cream-gel and even their bestseller Hoola matte bronzer-- all of which are mainstays in my vanity.
And just when I thought I had more than enough favorite Benefit Cosmetics' makeup to last me all year (seriously though, just when is enough really enough when it comes to makeup?!), along came their They're Real Double The Lip lipstick and liner in one and I just lost it. Eight new shades all mine to play with?! NO. WAY.
But seriously, what's a girl to do when she has new lipsticks to play with?
She holds a lipstick swatch party of course!
But before we get to the fun part of watching my oily face (on video lang, take note. haha!) try on the different shades, here are my thoughts on Benefit Cosmetics' They're Real Double The Lip lipstick & liner in one.
• The teardrop tip design is a game changer.
I had to point this out first because lipstick application (and even liner) has never been made easy until now. Apply the product to your top lip first and then flip it upside down when you do your bottom lip and you get, like I said, dimension and volume for days. The flipping part may feel unnatural at first but one will surely get the hang of it after a few tries. The teardrop design makes it more convenient and even quicker compared to applying a separate lip liner and lipstick.
• Dimension and volume with just one product.
I don't have to bring a separate lip liner to achieve lips like that of Angelina Jolie and Jessica Alba. Yes? No? Scarlet Johansson, perhaps? ;)
• Moisturizing yet comfortable.
The lipsticks are very moisturizing yet surprisingly comfortable-- doesn't feel heavy on the lips and doesn't tug during application. While I am not the best one to ask about lipstick finishes, all I can say is that it makes my lips look very defined, plump and healthy.
• The Benefit Cosmetics' They're Real Double The Lip comes in 8 shades:
Some of the lipsticks have more defined contrasts between the liner and lipstick color but this shouldn't be a problem if you like it that way but if you don't, you can just blend it out using a lip brush or your fingertip to achieve a subtler contrast. And because I always play favorites, of the (8), my favorite is Lusty Rose, a rosy neutral that complements my skin tone perfectly, while my least favorite would have to be Flame Game, a show-stopping fiery orange-red that I couldn't bring myself to wear even with the palest of makeup on.
Overall, I love this innovative lipstick line-- a total game changer, and if I am not mistaken, a first in the industry. Lipstick, lip liner, and fuller, more defined lips with just one product? YES PLEASE!
