Choosing a vehicle goes beyond what the eyes can see— it’s not just about aesthetics, the pogi points or the macho look. When shopping for vehicle, safety and performance should always come first, while form and looks, second.
I’ve always been a SUV-loving girl because for most of my adult life, I was driving my parents’ SUVs. From their manual transmission AUV to their automatic mid-size SUV, I was so at home (not to mention safe!) driving them big cars that I told myself that when I get married, our first family car should also be a sports utility vehicle.
Fast forward to 2014, a year after we moved into our own home, the husband decided that it was time for us to get our first family car because there was in no way we were going to continue bothering my brothers or my parents whenever we have to go out. And while we initially wanted a SUV (he used to drive an Isuzu Sportivo), we ended up buying a crossover because he let fickle-minded old me do all the deciding.
However, for a family like us who loves going on road and beach trips whenever we get the chance to, ample legroom and a decent cargo hold for all our stuff (I am never a light packer!) are a must— something that we can’t really expect from a crossover, yes?
This is mainly the reason why I love them big cars, that, plus a whole lot of other features like Anti-lock Braking System, Hill Start Assist, 230 mm ground clearance (because crazy flooding lately!) and well, of course, pogi/macho looks! So with all things considered, my husband and I have decided to consider an upgrade earlier than planned. Instead of loving the heck out of our crossover for up until 6-7 years, we might give it up when it turns 5 and finally get us that mid-size SUV that we’ve always wanted! And because I am the type of person who gets pretty excited about things no matter how trivial (or in this case, something that’s not going to happen until 2019 perhaps?), I went ahead and saved my husband the trouble doing hours of research and did it myself.
Here are my 5 reasons why I think the new Isuzu mu-X Euro 4 with Bluepower Diesel Engine should be our next family car!
1.) BEST FUEL ECONOMY. Don’t we all love a fuel-efficient car? In this day and age of ballooning price hikes, fuel economy, emission and engine output must be considered. I am not the best person to ask about these things and while I did my research, I also referred this to my husband who also gave his seal of approval.
2.) SAFETY FEATURES like ABS-EDB (Anti-lock brake system with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), Brake Assist (BA), Dual SRS Airbags, Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Stability Control (ECS), Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control. All of which are necessary features to ensure optimum safety for the whole family.
3.) SEATING CAPACITY, AMPLE LEGROOM, BIG CARGO HOLD. The Isuzu mu-X Euro 4 is a mid-size 7-seater SUV that’s perfect for families. As mentioned above, we want a vehicle that’s big enough for all our stuff whenever we decide to go on a road trip, has ample legroom for maximum comfort when driving in traffic, and a seating capacity that can accommodate 2 families (ours plus my parents and brothers) should we decide to go out using just one vehicle because sometimes, light family talks are all we need when we’re stuck in traffic. Family bonding in the car, yes? ;)
4.) CONVENIENCE. Isuzu mu-X has 7 seating capacity and equipped with 3 USB charging port (don’t we all need more than 2 of them?), storage compartment (with 19 compartments and 12 cup holders, the mu-X was clearly built with a big family in mind), and child seat tethers for second row. Plus, a 10-inch roof-mounted DVD monitor for entertainment. I am in love with this SUV already!
5.) Last but not the least, POGI POINTS. Re-designed front facia, Bi-LED with integrated day time running lamp with automatic headlamp leveling, 18-inch alloy wheel, Tail lamp with LED positioning lamp, Blue ambient light, Soft-pad leather interior accent (yes!), Quilt-stitch leather interior (yes to leather for car interior!), 8-inch audio-video head unit with navigation, and 10-inch roof mounted monitor. Not to mention how solid and manly the Isuzu mu-X looks! I have to admit, I researched on this one first because of how it looks, all the rest were second priority (again). Whattt?! I still considered its safety features! Next to aesthetics, that is. Haha! Plus, the Isuzu mu-X LS-A 4X2 AT was awarded by Car Awards Group, Inc as the 2017 Best Mid-Sized 4x2 SUV, a great manifestation of its power, durability and reliability.
